The Power of Socialisation

Insight Deep Dive

The impact socialisation has in the workplace cannot be understated; it incites essential human connection, generates a sense of belonging, drives collaboration, promotes knowledge-sharing, and increases employee happiness.

Let’s take a further look at what insights we found:

When teams feel like they belong at work a safe space is created for diverse groups to express themselves, their thoughts and opinions leading to creativity and innovation flourishing. In turn this helps to create new or improved products, services, and processes.

Friendships offer peer-to-peer support systems that help employees navigate work related stress and pressure. As an employer, you’re not just facilitating a connected workforce, you’re fostering deep, human connectivity which is highly valued in the workplace (where people spend one third of their lives!).

Organic socialisation are moments where employees naturally come together through casual interactions. Not only are organic moments preferred by employees, they are the driving force behind their happiness and sense of belonging.

Organised socialisation connects people to their employer and brings colleagues at all levels together. Employees that take part in organised socialisation report they understand the strategy and goals of the business better, and see clear opportunities for career progression.

It may seem obvious, but creating a space that employees want to spend time is very different to simply having a space where they can. Without the right space and environment, it can be hard for employees to prioritise building relationships with their colleagues.
