Responsibility

We are committed to delivering our exceptional services responsibly. We do this by focusing on nurturing our environment, positively contributing to the communities which we operate, taking an active role in creating healthier food choices, managing our essential resources sustainably, and reducing our food waste.

Sustainability

Sustainability and ethical business practice is at the core of our philosophy and is vital to us successfully remaining on trend and setting the standard across the industry. We pioneer sustainability solutions and best practice in collaboration with our clients to ensure our operations embrace current trends including SME and local partnerships, plant forward solutions, waste minimisation and animal welfare.

Alongside our parent company, Compass Group Australia, we’ve made it our target to be Carbon Net Zero by 2050 whilst remaining dedicated to helping our clients and guests live happier, healthier and more productive lives.

Sustainable procurement

During the procurement process, as well as quality and price, we always take into account the social, economic and environmental impact we are having on the communities in which we operate.

We prioritise supporting SME, local and Indigenous suppliers, reducing food waste, and spending locally.

Wellbeing

At Restaurant Associates, we take our responsibility to educate and help facilitate healthier choices seriously.

Not only do we look for quality ingredients, as providers of a wide range of food services we ensure the wellbeing of our clients’ people remains at the forefront of our creativity and menus.

Reducing food waste with Leanpath

Food reduction initiatives are an essential part of the food service industry’s future, and the health of our planet. In order to tackle food waste and its associated complications, we have implemented Leanpath across a number of our sites.

Leanpath is an innovative tracking and analysis system that measures and prevents food waste in our kitchens, reducing costs, hassle, and ultimately our co2 emissions.

Plant-forward menus

More and more Australians are eating plant-based foods, or following a plant-based diet. Not only do we want to help our clients meet this demand, it also aligns with our environmental commitments and responsibilities as a facilitator of healthier food choices.

As well as incorporating more plant-based ingredients into our menus, we developed SHIFT, our plant forward academy aimed at sharing the latest dining trends, building our teams plant forward culinary capabilities, and offering customers high-quality plant-based food experiences. The goal is to shift eating patterns to a more flexitarian style, generally reducing meat and increasing the consumption of plants.

Recycled, reusable containers

We are always looking for innovative sustainable solutions to put into practise throughout our service portfolio. One avenue of sustainability that we have implemented is the use of recycled and reusable containers in an effort to reduce reliance on single-use plastics. Some examples of this include:

Waddi, one of our Indigenous owned supplier groups, who share our strong commitment to building a sustainable future. Their Waddi water bottles are not only reusable, but made from 100% recycled aluminium.

Our partnership with Returnr who produce reusable service wear that eliminates the need for single-use food and beverage packaging in office kitchens, cafes, and more.
